Deed of William Taylor from William Huffington
Somerset Co., Maryland
February 25, 1826


This indenture made this twenty fifth day February in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty six between William Huffington of Somerset County and State of Maryland of the one part and William Taylor of the county and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said William Huffington for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars current money of the United States to him in hand paid by the said William Taylor before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he the said William Huffington doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns forever all the balance of the land that I the said William Huffington bought of Levin Taylor Exclusive of What I sold to Levi Taylor and Uriah Dorman up to a well known division line between the said Levi Taylor & William Taylor the whole situate and being in Somerset County State of Maryland lying on the south side of Nanticoke River the quantity of acres not ascertained in this deed but by having reference to the old deeds and bonds the courses can fully be seen and made appear and show the quantity of acres and situation of the land and I the said William Huffington doth hereby legally convey and make over and confirm unto the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns forever. To have and to hold the above mentioned and described granted and bargained premises with all and singular benefits previledges appurtenances and improvements whatsoever unto the same belonging or in any way thereunto appertaining unto him the said William Taylor his heirs or assigns forever and to him and their only proper use benefit and behoof and I the said William Huffington for myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said William Taylor his heirs executors administrators assigns that the above mentioned and described granted and bargained premises unto him the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns forever and I the said William Huffington will warrant and defend the above described lands from me and my heirs and assigns from by or under me. In testimony whereof I the within named William Huffington have hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.

State of Maryland Somerset County. Be it remembered that on the day and year first within written personally appeared before us the Subscribers two of the Justices of the peace for Somerset County the within named William Huffington and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the land therein mentioned to be the estate write and property of the within mentioned William Taylor his heirs and assigns forever according to the purport true intent and meaning of the said deed or instrument of writing and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided.

March the 14th day anno Domini 1826 then was delivered unto me the subscriber the foregoing deed in order to be enrolled among the records of Somerset County which said deed together with the acknowledgment thereof thereon endorsed are accordingly enrolled among the same records the day and year aforesaid in Liber G. H. No. 3 folio 123 & 124
